Cylinder heads can crack if run hard while low on coolant. Usually you need to cook it pretty hard to do that. Sounds like you caught yours before major cooking.

I´m not sure what you mean by "tach sender" but the Cat pulse generator part number is 5N8176 or 1645524. This will connect to the tach drive and generate the pulse for an electric tachomete..... |

You need the workshop manual: Engine Body. The fuel lines to the injectors have to be removed to get the valve covers off. Valve clearance is 0.40mm for both intake and exhaust valves.

Here is the valve adjustment procedure attached. You will note the difference between the 4x series of engines which is primarily 12 valve vs 24 valve. The 44 and 300 are pretty much the same..... |

Probably around 3-4gph each. Depends more on the boat than the engine. Some boats 1000rpm is around hull speed and easy to push, some boats are digging a hole at 1000 and will burn more fuel.

Looks like stbd prop is loading that engine heavier than port. Get both props scanned when you get them off, and post the pitch data. Suspect stbd prop has more pitch. |

I would use a separate filter just for the fuel polishing and a separate pump. If you plan to only use it at the dock than a 115 volt AC pump will be better using a timer to run an hour or two every ..... |

Sender location is fine. Try to figure out the bottom shape of your tank, and which way it tilts. The water is going to the lowest spot. If you are lucky, the low spot is accessible from the sender..... |

1) Some Gear cooler tubes blocked ??
2) Drop your oil level to the minimum on the dip stick and retest. If you are just a few ounces too high, you could easily run hot..

Running at those conditions, 100hr interval is probably excessive. On other engines in that service, 300hrs seems to work. On some, the fuel dilution becomes the major factor driving an oil change. ..... |
