There is lots to read about oil samples (do a search).
I went through the same thing and had an oil sample done when I bought my boat & then again at 50 hours after an oil change.

What a single oil sample is really good for is showing if the is fuel, coolant or seawater in the oil, all of which are problems in need of attention - what it won´t do is tell you much about the inte..... |

yup wasted $$dough$$ on an oil sample.
Of course, being new to used diesel ownership...I had an oil sample done before I bought my Blackfin with used (550 hr.) 6BTA 370s.
Oil analysis came back OK...... |

Yes, a "Tony Athens" term!
I roasted a 6B 370 Aug 08 do to marine age. 2 bolts snapped off the belt idler pulley, lost the engine coolant..Poof!

Tim, I installed like new 370s in my Blackfin this past spring. From hour one of intall, and the engines are basically new REMANS, the turbocators and EGT were as follows.

Yes the engine battery starts both engines is fairly new and in listing seems to turn both engines the same. The starboard engine starts easy even when faily cold. |

If you want to eliminate cranking speed as the culprit, there is really only one way.. Pull the fuel solenoid circuit, be ready to strobe the engine, and crank it-----------150 or more RPM is the numb..... |

B is an easy starting direct injection engine, I do not have spec to hand as you have not posted your CPL but so I cannot quote your spec for unaided cold start ..... |
