#13 Level-2 Member Mds   The engines can be rebuilt in the boat. Its not easy but it is the normal procedure. I would not take them out unless the oil was milky or the block, crankshaft, and or cam shafts were bad. Granted if.....

#1 Level-3 Member Ski in NC   Motor is definitely saveable. You need a fresh battery, a functioning starter, test leads with alligator clips, a jug of fuel, squeeze bulb line, and tools to pull injectors. Don´t worry about alter.....

#1 Level-1 Member Rob   Pull off the Fuel return line and stick it in a bucket. Press the preheat switch and hold for awhile. If the return line isn´t pumping diesel into the bucket I believe you have a defective fuel lift p.....

#3 Level-3 Member Ski in NC   Drive plate is a tight fit on its outside diameter where it fits into the flywheel. It can be a bugger to release. Spray a penetrant into the fit. Tap with a hammer around outside diameter of plate.....

#1 Level-1 Member Maka Koa   You can install FLOSCANS. I have found that for my boat (Luhrs 32´) the published fuel burn numbers seem pretty accurate.

#1 Level-1 Member Maka Koa   Did this just atart? One idea would be that engine is overpropped. Black smoke indicates partially burned fuel & could be due to an overloaded engine. Once RPM´s come up, fuel begings to burn more .....
