Boatdiesel.com provides the For Sale/Wanted sections purely as a means of getting buyers and sellers together. We're a privately owned site based in the Caribbean and therefore have no way to verify the validity of a buyer or seller or the quality of the products being advertised.
The Internet has been running long enough for all of us to be aware that there are buyers and sellers out there who will take advantage of the Internet's anonymity when conducting business through emails. There's much you can do to reduce your risks by using the same common sense you'd apply when dealing with someone face to face.
If you are interested in responding to an advertisement please be sure who you are dealing with. A little background research in the Forums or the Internet in general may save a lot of heartache later. The Boatdiesel Services section is new (April 2010) - but check the feedback from our readership.
If you're buying anything, but particularly something of value, then seriously consider investing in an independent survey before parting with your money. It will be money well spent.
