Topic:  help on repowering a Tiara

Originator: John S Guest Date:  15 October, 2004 - 02:09 PM    Need some advice on repowering a 1988 31 Tiara open. First ,the boat now has crusader 454 engines. Motors fit but are tight. What diesels are the same size or smaller then big blocks. Is the 6b cummings smaller than a 454? How about the tamd41or kamd volvos or the yanmars? Knowing thisinformation will get me looking around for a set of motors. Has anyone on the board done a repower on one of these boats? Got a few prices for new yanmars(240 hp) for around 40 grand. Looking at a set of volvo 41a thinking of rebuilding and saving about 20 grand. Had a set of them in a topaz I owned were very reliable.Thanks for any and all help. John
