I am trying to change the pencil zinc on the engine of my BT6 but the old one dissolved in the space and the new one doesn´t want to fit. How do I get out the old zinc debris? |

Hi Mike: I change alot of zinc´s old ones and broken off pencils I use a shop vac sometimes to suck up old broken pencils also Mechanic fingers you can pick them up at any auto parts store the plunger..... |

I take the SS long thin flat skinny metal piece from an old windshield wiper blade. Cut off a small 6" piece and then Bend it in half into a tweaser. It´s long and thin enough to fit into the h..... |

If none of the mentioned tries work, disconnect hose and back flush through zinc fitting to wash out. On some installs when using universal pencils, stick a screwdriver in fitting and measure distance..... |

Give the boat a good run on plane before going into storage. That will cook out any moisture in the oil. Should be fine over storage and for next season. 20hrs is basically new oil. Usually best t..... |

If you keep it in a lift most of the time, you really don´t need bottom paint. If paint gets old on the lift, then you leave it in the water for a solid month, you may get some growth. The amount of..... |

Different paints react differently.
Some paints will lose there effectiveness when left out of the water for a period of time while others will not. If you plan on having your boat out of the water..... |

I´m guessing, but the 6b starter should fit. Should be the same flywheel and housing.
Edit: If the 6b starter is from a dodge truck, that is probably different. |

Obvious questions first, is the clamp seated properly and is it tight (it´s not cracked?)? Now for the hard one, when was the last time the aftercooler was cleaned out? If it´s clogged you´ll build up..... |

snap ring is tight and not broken in anyway, the seal seems to be as tight as ever.
The aftercooler, about 15 months ago, both were replaced with new cores.....

I figured that´s what I would have to do, it just seems like if there is a square drive plug (and there are others on the engines), that there would be a tool available for the job. |
