Level-1 Member Monterey10   I was looking at several trawlers yesterday. Most had the Vertical 6 cylinder Perkins 6.354. One boat had the same engine laid on its side. It looks like it was made that way to reduce the height.....

#1 Level-3 Member Paul Foulston   Perkins HT6.354 was made that way. Biggest flaw is the sea water cooled exhaust manifold, however this applies to vertical motors also, exept on HT motors all hidden from view. Very old iron now.....

#1 Forums Moderator Tony Athens   Info is shetchy, although there is (or was) some in the library on this site. My suggestion would be stay away UNLESS you have a very fat wallet and are your own mechanic with lots of time and expe.....

#5 Guest Dan   John, something I should have noted on my first post: if your turbo is frozen by rust you should first determine where the moisture is coming from and take care of that before doing a rebuild or repla.....

Level-1 Member Coopor25   Hi my m80t is a bit powerless and runs hot about 110`c.its had a new block it revs up to 4100rpm.it starts cold good and sounds fine and stops quick.i`m looking at the turbocharger and the wastegate .....

Level-1 Member Blowin Time   I have a reman 4-108 in my sailboat with less than 100hrs. It has started a blue/gray smoke at startup and the more rpm the more smoke. It leaves oil/fuel on the water at idle or under load.Checking .....
