Lucky Jack,
First, let´s be 100% sure of the accuracy of your tachs.. Yanamr tachs are nortoriously not accurate and typically read higher that true at the top end... You´ll need to strode the engi..... |

Thanks for reply. I should have mentioed two things. The tachs are Faria not standard Yanmar and have been strobed, calibrated and are accurate. Also the transmissions are twin disc 5011A 1.44:1.

Alberto,
Why all the overhang behind the strut? What is the white collar behind the strut? A shoulder on a custom bearing? It does nothing as to actual shaft support?
All you need is about 1/2 ..... |

The white collar is part of a custom aligment bearing prepared by the installer. I really appreciate that small detail..... |

You have not addressed the question.. WHY the extra bearing behind the strut? It offers 100% of nothing .. Cut it off, machine it off, reverse the bearing, move it forward, etc.,--- and then move the ..... |

The minimum clearance between the rudder and closest point of the propeller blade should be 15% of the propeller diameter. This is the same specification for minimum clearance between propeller tips ..... |

Chris,
There is no cutlass bearing in the stern tube. The shaft were already reduced aproximately 5" from the factory length and it seems that will benefit from some additional reduction.
