Start cleaning electrical connections between the battery and the starter and the ground. Could also be the starter switch. But clean up and tighten up all the connections first.

Just recently, both engines are loosing fuel prime when starting. The engines used to start at the touch of the switch, now they crank 2-3 seconds before starting. I know this doesn´t sound terrible, ..... |

If you have a primer pump on the fuel system, work the primer pump to make sure you have good fuel to the injection pump. Then see how easy the engine starts. |

You state that both engines are having the same problem. If so concentrate on what you changed or worked on that could affect BOTH engines. The only thing you have mentioned so far are the Racors. |

Does anyone know have a comprehensive list by cat part no.s of the engine zincs for this engine? Last time i changed the zincs, the zincs in the manual did not match the ones on the engines....Cat 32..... |

Thanks, second part of the question...having a real hard time getting the 3 Heat Exchanger zincs off...unfortunately I rounded one zinc (one of the two on the salt water pump)....I don´t wa..... |

You don´t have anything to lose by using a pipe wrench or ViceGrips. You can also put a soldering iron on the plug and heat it up and then cool it down with some ice which may break it free. I use Ae..... |

You will also need a 6L2289 zinc rod.
The only way you can successfully remove these plugs is by using a eight sided socket. I use a Snap-On F314 7/16 for the larger plugs and a Britool MBSQ375 for..... |

thanks again for your help...the zinc fitting is a lost cause and I am replacing the end cap on the heat exchanger ($72.00). I will try and get a snap on eight sided socket 7/16 and..... |

If you can´t get your hand on the Britool socket then go for a Snap-on F312 which is a eight sided 3/8 socket |

All, I just bought a Tolly with 3208´s NA(210hp), and each time I start the port engine (cold)it lopes till warm, unless I raise the idle a few rpm (say 800-1000. The starboard cranks up and just pur..... |

I had a similar issue with my 3208T engines. One ran fine the other one hunted (ie idel going up and down - I asume this is what you mean by lopes) at idle and the problem disapeared when revs increa..... |

Full power 2800 rpm about 20gph each.
2400 cruise...about 13gph each.
2200 cruise...about 10gph each.
Above cruise numbers assuming planed out, using a 2.7 exponent prop curve.

They have truck wrecking yards and equipment wrecking yards and most Cat dealers have what is called 50 - 50 parts. 50 50 parts sells used equipment. These would be good places to find parts at less ..... |

There is a company that runs an add in Boats & Harbors that sells aftermarket CAST 3208 oil pans. I think it is named Hall or something like that. Never used one, but cast should be way better than ..... |

They can be repaired pretty easily with fiberglas using epoxy and combo mat. The metal must be VERY clean. Welding a patch on is also possible if you have the equipment, but if you have to pay a weld..... |

If the coolant did go out the expansion bottle and the engine did need to be refilled with coolant, is there automatically going to be problems or can you still get lucky.

Oil pans...cat is the only source for OEM. Cast pans apparently available non oem. I´ve used Coastal Diesel in New Bern for cat pumps with good results. Could this be the "Watermark"??

I had an alternator go bad on my Cat 3208TA so I removed it to be rebuilt - just temporarily taped up the wires so they would not inadvertently contact anything. Later that day I wasn’t thinking and ..... |

If you change to a ETS solenoid you will also need to fit a slave solenoid to activate the ETS solenoid (if you know what I mean) |

I fitted Walker CCE Airseps this winter to my 425hp 3208TAs (1991).
I collect the blow by spillage in a seperate bottle per engine (no feed back in engine).
My Port engine produces about 80 cc in 30..... |

I have twin 3208 375. Port engine charges port bank. Starboard engine charges starboard bank. Issue is with port bank. It was not taking a charge. My volt gauge on the dash was not moving off of ..... |

Ski- right on! I bypassed the isolator and everything is fine. I will replace with a new one. Does anyone know if I can make the bypass as simple as connecting the alternator wire to the output pos..... |

That should be fine. Move alt lead from isolator alt post to isolator battery post..for the battery that goes with that engine.
When done, crank engines and rev up to maybe 1000 and check voltage ..... |

My 3208´s in a 40 ft Jerseey are blowing dense black smoke over 2300 rpms. I have new air filters and the running gear and bottom are clean. Any ideas on what to try? |
